Before you throw that LG Flatron W2361VG out the window!

It's a common problem to have an LG Flatron W2361VG that won't turn on, especially when it's plugged into a power strip that you shut off at the end of the day.

Try the following to get it working.

Plan A: Do not plug the monitor into a UPS or surge protector.

Rather, plug the monitor directly into a separate switched power strip that goes directly into a wall outlet.

Surge protectors and back-up power supplies interfere with the power-saving circuit in the monitor.

Now, the critical part…

Do not use the red power bar at the base of the monitor to turn on (or off) the monitor.

Use the switch on the power cord.

The start-up procedure…

Power up your UPS or surge-protected outlet bar to your computer.

The red bar on the monitor will light thanks to the current supplied through the monitor cable.

Now, turn on the switch to the cord powering your monitor. Do not touch the red bar!

When shutting down your computer, wait until it's done and…

The red bar on the monitor will blink. Do not touch it!

Cut the power to the monitor using the switch on the power cord.

It appears that the monitor power saving program cannot handle too much touching.

Plan B: If Plan A fails, any variety of tricks may get it going including… Unplugging the power cable, waiting 15 seconds and plugging it back in.

Shutting everything down and waiting at least 10 minutes.

Plan C: The trash. Better yet, recycle it.
